Hello again to all my creative friends.
I am sharing my new project as
Design Team member for 13arts ~
a mixed media canvas using the
beautiful MEMORY LANE collection.
There were a few processes which I
used to prepare the background
of my canvas ...
I first cut and adhered paper from the
collection to my canvas using
gel medium and then gave all paper
a good coating of the same product,
drying it completely.
I then stenciled around my canvas
using modeling paste, allowing it
to dry completely before applying
a combination of modeling paste
and texture powder using a spatula.
Once all product had dried completely and
allowed the cracks to form, I added
Chalk Lilac and Patina Bronze from the
co-ordinating set of watercolour sprays
onto my canvas, one colour at a time,
spraying with water to allow the colour to
move on the surface of my canvas and
drying each colour before
the next application.
I painted my large metal frame
as well as the resin door with black gesso
and then, once dry, dry brushed them
with a light application of white gesso.
I then applied the rust effect by
first brushing with gel medium,
secondly adding the rusty powder to the
product and then applied the reagent
to the powder, leaving it to work
its magic! to produce the brown, rust look.
Some of the rusty liquid ran onto my
canvas and I left it there because it
gave my canvas an old, vintage look.
I painted the chipboard swirls with
diluted Golden Calcite Color Glow.
I adhered all elements to my canvas
together with cut-outs from the collection,
flowers and other embellishents.
I hope that this layout has inspired you.
