Ocean View

Hello creative friends.
I am sharing a recent canvas created as Brand Ambassador for Penelope Dee
using the stunning new Ocean Blue collection.

I created the background for this project by tearing papers from the collection and
layering them onto the canvas.
I then stenciled onto the paper using blue expanding mousse, applying some
of the product between the folds of the papers.
I used a wooden embroidery hoop on the project and painted it with brown and red
rust pastes to give it an old and weathered look.

The chipboard elements were painted with orange and then, once it was dry,
lightly misted with blue gloss spray.

This project included a LOT of fussy cutting and I love how these
elements look once added to the project.  I created some octopus tentacles protruding
from all of these cut elements by rolling air dry clay, positioning them onto
my project and then adding beads into the clay to look like little suckers.

I hope that you like this project and are inspired to create your own.
Until next time!

Hello Spring

Hello creative friends.
In our country, we are well into the season of Spring.  The flowers are blooming everywhere,
the sun is rising earlier and the birds are singing a cheerful song.
I am sharing a Spring project which I created with the Baroque Garden frame
from SnipArt as well as papers and ephemera from the Pastel Spring
collection from 13arts.

I decorated the box frame by painting it with a combination of 13arts "Sky Blue"
watercolour powder combined with white gesso to give it a very pale blue colour.
Once this was dry, I mixed the same blue into modeling paste together with 13arts
texture powder and applied this medium to the top layer of the frame.
This gave a lovely texture to the top of the frame.
Once it was dry, I mixed Bronze and Rose Violet Red Shiny Powder with gel medium
and, using a spatula, lightly applied this over the texture paste.
For the final layer, I randomly added sticky glue onto the frame, leaving it to dry slightly.
Once it was sticky, I applied a bronze foil onto the glue to give the frame a shimmer.

I than added all the layers of paper and ephemera into the box of the frame.

I hope that you like this project and are inspired to create your own.
Until next time!

Dance and be happy

Hello creative friends.
Today I am sharing a new layout created for 13arts
using the gorgeous new Carmen collection.

I love the dance elements in this collection which went perfectly with this pic of
my daughter during her ballet days.

I prepared the background of this layout by combining the new Goldstone
Color Glow as well as Old Gold paint with gel medium and then stenciled where
I wanted my compositions to be, dragging my spatula down
my layout here and there.

I added elements from the Ephemera pack around my main composition to
complete my layout.

I hope that you like this layout and are inspired to create one of your own.
Until next time!

Home is where the heart belongs

Hi everyone.
I am sharing a recent project created as Brand Ambassador for Penelope Dee
using the Heart and Home collection.

I was inspired by the cut outs in this collection as well as the little clay Tim Holtz
toadstools to create this whimsical, woodland canvas.

I moulded the tree from air dry clay by intertwining pieces of the clay and then
marking it with a stick.

I added paper from the collection to the canvas and stenciled around the edge
with modeling paste, adding acrylic paints to the edges as well as
to the tree and the toadstools.

I added moss around the base and along the stem of the tree and couldn't resist the
little spider because we know that the woods are full of all kinds of goggas!

I added cut-outs from the collection as well as a title which I
coloured with paint.

I hope that you like this project and are inspired to create one of your own.
Until next time!

Be strong

Hello creative friends.
I am sharing a new mixed media project for 13arts featuring papers and embellishments
from the Young and Free collection as well as amazing 13arts products.

I created this large wooden panel by adhering paper from the collection to it and then giving it
a good covering of clear gesso.
I then stenciled onto it with modeling paste, allowing it to dry completely.

I painted a large wooden cog with white gesso and then applied rice paper from
the collection to it with gel medium, lightly wetting the edges and then
tearing the paper very gently.

I painted my embellishments with black gesso and/or with a combination of
Tiger Eye Color Glow and Acrylic Medium.  Once they were dry, I added them
to my project together with the large wooden cog.

I combined Amber and Garnet Color Glows with Acrylic Medium and then added
this lightly to some of my embellishments to give them an orange/gold glow.  I added
more Garnet to the mix and added this as well.

Once all of the colour was dry, I lightly painted here and there with gel medium,
adding Rusty Bronze Powder to the medium and then adding the rust reagent to
start the rusting process.

Once everything was dry, I added a light dusting of white gesso around the edges
of some of my embellishments to bring out the detail as well as
some splashes of colour onto the panel.

Some of the products used include the following ...

I hope that you like this project and are inspired to create one of your own.
Until next time!

be{you}tiful

Hello creative friends.
I am sharing a single layout with you all today which I created as Brand Ambassador
for Penelope Dee using the so very beautiful Milla Grace collection.

I love the soft pinks, burgundies and blues in this collection which I thought went so
beautifully with this photograph of one of my very beYOUtiful nieces.

I layered some of the papers on this layout and then applied light blue crackle mousse
around the edges, allowing the product to dry and crack naturally.
I love the cracks and have to stop myself from applying too much.

I painted the large doily circle with blue paint and then applied burgundy wax to
the smaller circle before lightly applying the blue paint over the top.

Of course there are lots of flowers and elements to cut out which I added around
my photograph together with some flowers.

I hope that you like this layout and are inspired to create one of your own.
Until next time!
