Merry Christmas

Hi everyone.
It is Christmas, again!
It feels as if we just celebrated a Christmas and here we are,
preparing for another.  This one looks a little different to the last one,
even the one before that and definitely different to the Christmas's of old.
So much has changed in the last few years - the carefree gathering of families
no longer exists, many families have lost loved ones and livelihoods
and a time of hope and joy has turned to sadness and despondency for so many.
BUT no matter what we face in this lifetime does not compare
to the expectation of eternity.  This is a time to celebrate
the birth of our Lord and the Saviour of this broken world, Jesus Christ.
Without Him, we have no hope for the future or joy in our hearts.

I created this wooden Merry Christmas banner with papers from the
Merry-Mint collection from Penelope Dee,
a beautiful collection with greens, mints and reds.

I began by covering each individual letter on the word "Christmas"
with different papers from the collection.

I then applied Ivory Coast crackle mousse onto the letters, letting the mousse
dry naturally to bring out all the amazing cracks.

I also stenciled onto the letters using the same mousse
and a small dot stencil.

I covered the word "Merry" with the green gingham paper only

Chipboard elements were painted in a light gold paint and were
added to my project together with elements from the cut-out sheets.

I hope that this Christmas and the new year will bring you hope
for the future and, in so doing, bring you joy as you face each new day.

Until next time!

Remember

Hello creative friends.
I am sharing a new 13arts Design Team layout with you all today
using papers and embellishments from the Back in Time collection.

I absolutely love this collection! I am partial to beautiful, floral,
pretty papers, but there's something about a collection
which is industrial/almost masculine in a way that draws me to it.

I prepared the background of this layout by layering papers from
the collection and then stenciling with a combination of
Tourmaline as well as Goldstone Color Glows combined with
gel medium.

I painted the resin pieces with black gesso and then added
a combination of the same Color Glows added to Acrylic Medium.
Once the paints were dry, I lightly brushed them with white gesso.

Ephemera as well as elements from the cut-out sheet
completed my layout.

Once I had added everything to my layout, I added blue paint from the
Travel the World watercolour paint tin around my composition for depth,
lightly spraying with water to allow the colour to move.

I hope that you like this layout and are inspired to create one of your own.
Until next time!

Blessed beyond measure

Hello creative friends.
I am sharing a single page layout with you all today as Brand Ambassador
for Penelope Dee using the beautiful new Agatha collection.

I love how the reds used on my layout contrast with the blues
in this collection.  It is really quite striking!

I prepared the background of this layout by tearing and layering papers
from the collection and then stenciling around my main composition
area with modeling paste.  While the paste was still wet,
I added glitter on top of it, leaving it to dry completely before
adding my photograph and other embellishments.

I added Faded Jeans Distress Marker to the wording on my
chipboard embellishments.

Chipboard embellishments and elements from the
cut-out sheets completed my layout.

I hope that you like this layout and are inspired to create your own.
Until next time!

Joy to the world

Hi everyone.
Christmas is almost upon us - a time of hope and joy to the world.
I am sharing my new project with you all today as Design Team
member for 13arts using the new Christmas Stories collection.

I created this project using a large wooden panel
together with a wooden heart.
I began by covering both of them with paper from the collection
and then stenciling onto both with modeling paste
as well as silver glitter paint.

I used a large wooden angel on my project and altered her wing
by adding a resin one.
I painted the wing in black gesso, lightly brushed it with white gesso
and then added old gold paint as well as
silver glitter paint.  The angel was also painted with these paints.

I added little houses cut from my Silhouette Cameo
and added elements from the cut out page as well as many other
Christmas decorations.

For the snow effect, I combined white gesso,
modeling paste and texture powder to make it nice and thick.
I painted this onto most of my embellishments as well as
around the top of the star and some of the edges of the
wooden panel.

Products used on this project include ...

I hope that you like this project and are inspired to
create one of your own with the amazing 13arts papers and products.

Until next time!

Today is for living your dreams

Hello creative friends.
I am sharing a new layout with you all today created as Brand Ambassador
for Penelope Dee using papers and embellishments from the
colourful new Blossom collection.

I prepared the background of this layout by laying papers from the collection
and then stenciling around the borders with expanding mousse.

I coloured the chipboard and resin embellishments with green acrylic paint
and then lightly rubbed them with orange wax.

I added elements from the cut out page together with flowers
to frame my main composition.

The chipboard title was lighly brushed with white embossing powder
before heat setting with a heat gun.

I hope that you like this layout and are inspired to create one of your own.
Until next time!
