Hi everyone.
It is Christmas, again!
It feels as if we just celebrated a Christmas and here we are,
preparing for another. This one looks a little different to the last one,
even the one before that and definitely different to the Christmas's of old.
So much has changed in the last few years - the carefree gathering of families
no longer exists, many families have lost loved ones and livelihoods
and a time of hope and joy has turned to sadness and despondency for so many.
BUT no matter what we face in this lifetime does not compare
to the expectation of eternity. This is a time to celebrate
the birth of our Lord and the Saviour of this broken world, Jesus Christ.
Without Him, we have no hope for the future or joy in our hearts.
I created this wooden Merry Christmas banner with papers from the
Merry-Mint collection from Penelope Dee,
a beautiful collection with greens, mints and reds.
I began by covering each individual letter on the word "Christmas"
with different papers from the collection.
I then applied Ivory Coast crackle mousse onto the letters, letting the mousse
dry naturally to bring out all the amazing cracks.
I also stenciled onto the letters using the same mousse
and a small dot stencil.
I covered the word "Merry" with the green gingham paper only
Chipboard elements were painted in a light gold paint and were
added to my project together with elements from the cut-out sheets.
I hope that this Christmas and the new year will bring you hope
for the future and, in so doing, bring you joy as you face each new day.
Until next time!
💗
