Organic

Hi everyone.
Today I am sharing a large wooden tag which I created as Brand Ambassador for Penelope Dee
using the beautiful Essence collection.

I prepared the background of this tag by adhering paper to it and then coating it with a layer
of clear gesso.

I then stamped onto the paper using black Archival ink.

I then stenciled with copper Nuvo Embellishment Mousse and, using a spatula, dragged the
mousse down the tag as well as down the edges of the tag.

Once the mousse was completely dry, I did the same with black gesso, using a spatula,
over the mousse and stenciling in places.

I added some emerald green paint here and there.

I hope that you like this tag.
Until next time!

Hope is never lost

Hi everyone.
I am sharing a recent canvas where I used 13Arts Color Glow paint powders.

I love the vibrant colours of the Color Glows, but, on this project, you won't see too much
of the shine because I applied a light coat of white gesso over the top, muting the colours
to soften them.

I prepared the canvas by first stenciling and then covering it with white gesso.
I then added all embellishments to the canvas, making sure that the the glue was dry
before covering everything with white gesso to create a blank canvas for the colours.

I added the colour by diluting the powder, spraying water onto the canvas and then
adding the colour with a paintbrush.  I dried the canvas between colours.

Here are some pics of the details ...

I hope that you like this canvas.
Until next time!

Thankful

Hi everyone.
I am sharing a single layout created using inspiration from the 13 Arts mood board challenge
for July, being inspired by the colours or elements in the board.

Watching birds is one of my favourite things to do!
There are so many different kinds that come into our little garden and the varieties that are
found in Africa are innumerable.

I decided to use the "Down Under" papers for my layout because the colours are so similar to
those found on our continent and I wanted to create a scene similar to the plains of Africa where
the most exquisite wild birds live and thrive.

I decided to use the paper below because, to me, it looks a lot like an aerial picture
of a desert so I used that as my starting point.
Using a wet paintbrush, I painted water around the image on the left so that it
would be easy to tear the paper where I wanted it to tear.

I then used tacky glue on the line on the paper and, when it was sticky enough, I added
copper Gilding Flakes because I wanted it to look like the African sun glistening off the ground.
I let the glue dry completely and then brushed off the excess flakes.

I painted clear gesso onto my layout and then stenciled with black gesso.
Once the stenciling was dry, I added stamping with black Archival ink.

Once all mediums were dry, I diluted Pistachio Green Watercolor Powder
with water, adding black gesso to it to make it a bit darker.

I sprayed water onto the page and then added the watercolor with a paintbrush,
letting it move on the page, until I was happy with the effect.

Splashes of diluted white gesso completed the layout.

I hope that you like this layout.
Why not click on the link above and join in the challenge.
Until next time!

Focus on the things that matter most

Hello everyone.
Today I am sharing a double page layout created as Brand Ambassador for Penelope Dee
using the gorgeous new Essence collection.

I love the combination of colours in this collection, especially the emerald greens
with subtle touches of burnt orange.

There are so many beautiful fussy cut elements in this collection so I kept the layout
sweet and simple with cut out flowers and leaves and photo's of my niece which suited
the layout perfectly.

Couldn't resist using this little wooden scooter which I painted in emerald paint and then,
once dry, rubbed with orange wax.

I hope that you like this layout.
Until next time!

Gentleman - Hero - Man

Hi everyone.
Today I am sharing a canvas which I made for Father's Day in June but didn't get to share it.

This pic is of my Father taken in his younger days, a pic which I think depicts who
he was as a man - a gentleman and our hero.

I stenciled onto the canvas and then painted everything with black gesso.
I then painted brown, orange and blue rust pastes over the top of the gesso, blending them to create
a desired effect.

Chipboard embellishments were painted with black gesso and then rubbed with copper wax.

Once I had adhered everything to the canvas, I added rust pastes here and there,
spraying with water so that the colour would run and look as if it had been there for years.

I hope that you like this canvas.
Until next time!

Art - find new ways

Hi everyone.
Today I am sharing a mixed media canvas using 13 Arts mixed media products.

I prepared the background of the canvas by stenciling onto chipboard and then, once it was dry, cutting it into strips and arranging them on the canvas, together with cogs/gears, art stones, lace and other embellishments.

I then painted everything with white gesso.  Once everything was dry, I started adding blue paint,
spritzing it with water to make it run across to the centre of the canvas.
I then firstly added dark brown chalk spray followed by Andalusite Color Glow powder paint
to blend with the blue and to flow towards the right of the canvas.

I added a frame, wings and title onto the top of the canvas.

Once all of the paint and ink was completely dry, I lightly brushed with white gesso to
bring out some of the details.

I hope that you like this canvas.
Until next time!

Take me back to the Sea

Hi everyone.
I am sharing a recent mini album created using the absolutely gorgeous
"Mechanical Seaworld" papers from Stamperia.

It was so much fun to play with this beautiful collection ... so many beautiful papers -
it was hard to choose which side to use.
In the end, this album was put together as a kit
so I am just going to share some pictures of the pages for you to enjoy.

I hope that you like this album.
Until next time!
