Timeless treasures of the heart

Hi everyone.
I am sharing a recent double page layout as Brand Ambassador for Penelope Dee
using the beautiful Charlotte collection.

This was just a simple layout with LOTS of fussy cutting of flowers and leaves.
Chipboard embellishments were painted with dark green paint and then dry brushed
with white gesso.  The same green paint was added to the chipboard pieces with
embossed wording and then lightly wiped with a baby wipe to remove the excess paint.

Here are some close-ups of the details on my layout ...

I hope that you like this layout.
Until next time!

Why not?

Hello everyone.
If you like using stamps on your projects as much as I do, then you'll love the 13arts stamps.
I am sharing a project with you all today ... a fun art journal page
using 13arts stamps and products.

There are so many ways to use stamps, but today I used mine on my page
with black archival ink.

I covered my page with clear gesso and then, when it was dry, I stamped with the black ink
from one corner to the next, layering the stamping with stenciling and then adding
black gesso around the edges of my page.

This is the traditional way of stamping, but always so effective, with the black
in contrast to the colour on your page.

Here are some close-ups of the details on my page ....

I hope that you like this project and feel inspired to create a page of your own.
Until next time!

Gentleman

Hello creative friends.
I am sharing a project for 13arts with you all today, a large wooden tag
using 13arts rice paper, mixed media products and stamps.

If you love using stamps on your projects, you'll know that there are
many ways in which to use them.  For this tag, I stamped with a clear embossing pad
and then added white embossing powder before heat setting it with a heat gun.

I love the effect that this gives, as the powder adheres to more than just the ink pad, causing white patches to form looking almost as if white gesso has been added.

Here are some close-ups of the stamping on this tag ....

I hope that you like this project and are inspired to create one of your own.
Until next time!

Love makes a family

Hello creative friends.
Today I am sharing an altered canvas created as Brand Ambassador for Penelope Dee
using the brand new Charlotte collection.
The combination of peach, orange and blue florals and leaves definitely
makes this one of my favourite collections.  In fact, I have yet to meet a
Penelope Dee collection that I didn't love 😃

A new element in this collection is the newprint page
which I used to cover the canvas with and then gave it a generous coating of clear gesso to protect it from the product and water which I would be adding.

I mixed black gesso together with gel medium and stenciled onto the canvas,
allowing it to dry completely before stenciling over the top of it with brown rust past,
spraying it with a bit of water to allow the colour to move and run.
Once it was dry, I added red rust onto the brown to give it the rusty look.

I used the same rust pastes on the chipboard wording as well.

Once everything was dry, I lightly rubbed orange wax over some of the texture on my canvas.
Resin pieces were painted with black gesso and then lightly rubbed with orange wax.

LOTS of flower fussy cutting framed my photograph and
my canvas was complete.

I hope that you like this project and feel inspired to create one of your own.
Until next time!

Story

Hello creative friends.
I am sharing a new 13arts mixed media project with you all today.

For this project, I used the reverse of a wooden canvas and paper and elements from
one of my favourite collection - Mr Handsome.
I love the masculine feel of this collection which allows for rusts, metals
and a real grungy feel.

I found these thin, coloured metal sheets at one of the art stores in Cape Town
and decided to use a piece of the gold one on my project, running it through
an embossing folder and then lightly sanding the raised areas.

Once I had assembled all of my elements, including the resin pieces,
I used 13arts Rusty Bronze Powder on my composition as follows:
💛 I added gel medium where I would like the rust to be,
💛 sprinkled the rust powder onto the gel medium, and then
💛 sprayed the Rust Reagent onto the rust powder, allowing it to activate.

I also added gold gilding flakes to some of the areas to highlight the details
as well as gold paint and a mix of turquoise and green watercolour paint
to add to the rusty effect.

I added chipboard pieces as well as ephemera and clear foil from
Mr Handsome to my project.

Some products used on this project include ...

I hope that you like this project and are inspired to create one of your own.
Until next time!

Dream and Dream Big

Hello creative friends.
I am sharing two single layouts with you all today
created as Brand Ambassador for Penelope Dee using the absolutely beautiful
"Live Love Dream" collection.

I love(!) the colours and the botanicals in this collection and, to be perfectly honest,
I could have created more projects with these papers if I had had the time.

If you are able to get your hands on some of these, please do.  You won't be sorry!

DREAM

I used a duplicate photograph which I love of my daughter for this layout and
stenciled around the main composition with crackle mousse, dragging the mousse
with the spatula in a downwards motion, allowing it to dry
to form all of the gorgeous cracks.

Once the mousse was dry, I added additional stenciling on top of the cracks with
embellishment mousse in a contrasting colour.

Lots of fussy cutting from the papers completed the composition.

DREAM BIG

I used the same dark blue sheet of paper for the background of this layout as well and
heat embossed all of the chipboard elements with white embossing powder.

I stamped onto my background using the co-ordinating stamp and embossing ink and
then covered the stamped image with white embossing powder.
shaking off the excess powder before heat setting the images with a heat gun.

Splashes of white ink completed the layout.

I hope that you like these layouts.
Until next time!

Be Brave, Be True

Hello creative friends.
I am sharing a new project with you all today for 13arts using the amazing Color Glows.
These products are so versatile and to get the shimmery result that you would like,
just add them to water, acrylic fluid medium, modeling paste, gesso or even
gel medium and then apply it to your project.

For this project I altered two old CD's, using the Color Glows below on both compositions.

Once I had built my compositions on both CDs, I covered one with white gesso
and the other with black gesso.

I then added Color Glows (separately) to Acrylic Fluid Medium and applied the
colours to my compositions, spraying water here and there to allow the colour to flow
and drying between each colour.

Once the colour was dry, I lightly dry brushed over the top of both to bring out the details.

Here is the composition using Color Glows on white gesso ...

And here is the composition using Color Glows on black gesso ...

While they do look quite similar, the Color Glows definitely do have
a different effect on each gesso.

Products used on this project include the following:

I hope that this has inspired you to try this 13arts product
on a project of your own.
Until next time!
