Time flies

Hello everyone.
It is hard to believe that we are already into the month of July and that half of 2021
is behind us, but time does fly and it waits for no-one!  We just have to be sure to
live in the moment, having no regrets, making memories along the journey.

I am sharing a new project for 13arts with you all today ...
a wooden mixed media canvas with a chipboard clock and other grungy elements.

I prepared the background of my canvas by adhering paper from
13arts' Young and Free Collection, covering it with clear gesso and then,
once the gesso was dry, I stamped as well as stenciled onto the paper
with a combination of gel medium and Luster Black Shiny Powder,
dragging the spatula down my canvas as well as
around the edges with my spatula.

I covered the top piece of my clock with gel medium and then, while it was still wet, I sprinkled small microbeads into the medium and dried it completely.  This will create texture to the clock once other mediums are added.

I covered all of the chipboard clock pieces with black gesso and then painted
the top piece with a combination of three 13arts Color Glows
(Tiger's Eye, Andalusite and Smoky Quartz) mixed together with fluid medium.
I also added the brown paint around the edges of my canvas with a paintbrush.

My centrepiece was created by using cut out butterflies from the Young and Free collection
as well as other elements and then covering it with a perspex dome with the sides of the dome
painted with the same brown paint using a sponge.

13arts products used include the following ....

I hope that you like this project and are inspired to create one of your own.
Until next time!

Happiness blooms from within

Hi everyone.
I am sharing a canvas with you all today created as Brand Ambassador for Penelope Dee
using the beautiful new Azure collection, Penelope Dee's 50th collection since they started 5 years ago.

I prepared the background of this canvas by adhering paper to it, coating it with
clear gesso and then first stenciling with expanding mousse and then, once that was dry,
applying blue crackle paste onto the corners and around the edges,
allowing it to dry completely to bring out the cracks.
I then added diluted a sand coloured paint with a paintbrush onto the paste,
allowing it to seep into the cracks of the paste.

Chipboard elements were painted with a periwinkle blue paint, making sure
that the paint coated the embossed areas of the chipboard and then removed the
excess paint with a wet wipe.
I then lightly painted the open areas with sand paint.

The resin pieces were coated with brown alcohol inks and then lightly rubbed
with brass wax to bring out the details.

I hope that you like this canvas.
Until next time!

Man

Hello creative friends.
The 13arts Design Team have been creating with foils over the last few days
and I am sharing my project with you all today, a glass panel using foils as well as
ephemera from the "Mr Handsome" and "Young and Free" collections.

I wanted to use the glass panel so that the foils were completely visible,
no matter which side you looked at.

I stenciled onto the glass panel with a combination of gel medium and Tiger Eye Color Glow,
spreading the medium with my spatula in places.
I then placed the foil of top of the medium and stenciled on top of the foil
with a combination of gel medium, Amber Color Glow and a small amount
of Gold Glitter paint.

I painted the resin pipes with a combination of Tiger Eye Color Glow and
Acrylic Medium and then, once the paint was dry, I lightly brushed them
with white gesso, rubbing off the excess to give them an old, worn look.

Here are some close-up pics of my project ....

Together

Hello creative friends.
I am sharing a new layout for 13arts with you today using paper and ephemera from
the beautiful "In Love" collection as well as 13arts products.

I wanted to create a soft, romantic layout using a pic of my parents on their
honeymoon many, many years ago.

I stenciled onto the sides of my layout using bronze shiny powder mixed with gel medium
and then, when the medium was dry, I added blue watercolour paint, spraying with water so that
the colour would move through the stenciling.

My chipboard pieces were painted with the same blue paint and then lightly
rubbed with the coloured gel medium.

I layered ephemera from the collection with chipboard elements as well
as flowers to match the collection.

Light gold mika flakes completed my layout.

I hope that you like this layout and that it inspires you to create one of your own.
Until next time!

The Story

Hi everyone.
I am sharing a recent project created as Brand Ambassador for Penelope Dee using the gorgeous, vintage Anthology collection.

I created an octagonal mini album this time, cutting paper to fit the album as well as
using embellishments from the collection.

The resin books on the cover were painted with alcohol inks and then given gold touches
here and there with gold gilding flakes.
I did this by applying sticky glue where I wanted to place the flakes and then,
once the glue was sticky, I applied the flakes to the glue, brushing off
the excess with a hard brush.

I also stenciled throughout the album using expanding mousse, drying the product
with a heat gun to bring out the texture in the product.

Here are a few close-ups of the pages in the album ....

I hope that you like this mini album and are inspired to create one of your own.

Heartfelt moments

Hi everyone.
I am sharing a recent single page layout as Brand Ambassador for Penelope Dee
using the beautiful Charlotte collection.

I love the bright orange and peach flowers in this collection as well as the beautiful
background pages, especially the newsprint one which I used on my layout.
The oranges combined with the greens are a perfect colour combination!

I prepared the background of my layout by stenciling with embellishment mousse
before adding the elements for my composition.

The chipboard frame was painted black and then I added sticky glue and gold gilding flakes,
brushing off the excess flakes with a hard brush.

I added a resin book embellishment to my layout and coloured it with brown, rust
and beige alcohol inks before adding sticky glue and gold gilding flakes,
following the same procedure as the frame above.

The rest of the layout included lots of fussy cut flowers and leaves from the collection.

I hope that you like this layout.
Until next time!

Even broken wings will learn to fly again

Hi everyone.
I am sharing a project which I created as Design Team member for 13arts
as inspiration for the June Mood Board Challenge.

When I prepared these wings with resin, they didn't come out how I had planned -
weak in some parts and some parts broke when I took them out of the mould.
It made me think about how our wings (figuratively speaking, of course), get damaged
and broken by the things of life and how, having been knocked down, we have to
find the time to heal.  With the right help and encouragement,
broken wings can learn to fly again.

I altered three shadow boxes by first painting them with white gesso
and then painting the frames with diluted green ink.
I then added stamping before applying gel medium with
bronze shiny powder around the edges.
I cut paper for the inside of the boxes (the base as well as the sides) and applied
the above products to them as well before adhering them inside the boxes.
I also added Rusty Bronze Powder onto the wings as well as around the frame of the centre box, adding the Reagent in order to make the powder react.
I love the effect of the rust powder and, the more Reagent that you add to the powder,
the more rusty the effect.

Here are some close-ups of the details ...
